Author Spotlight – Lamar Giles

Lamar Giles is a founding member of We Need Diverse Books and author of great Young Adult books mostly in the thriller/mystery genre. He has also edited and contributed to the short story anthology Fresh Ink. One of his new books Overturned is checked out, but you can put it on hold to get it next. Author Spotlight – Rainbow Rowell

Each week we will highlight a different author that your should know from our library collection. This week’s author is Rainbow Rowell.

Rainbow Rowell writes books for teens and adults across many genres. She has two new books out this fall; Wayward Son, the sequel to her fantasy novel Carry On. The characters from this book were first featured in her realistic fiction novel, Fangirl (not pictured because it is always checked out). Her second book out this fall is Pumpkinheads, a graphic novel illustrated by Faith Erin Hicks. Author Spotlight – Nnedi Okorafor

Each week we will highlight a different author that your should know from our library collection. This week’s author is Nnedi Okorafor.

Nnedi.authorspotlight

Nnedi Okorafor, professor of creative writing and literature, is the author of several books for all age groups and that span genres. She writes Black Panther and Shuri comic books for Marvel and her science fiction and fantasy novels have won the Hugo and Nebula awards. Her book, Who Fears Death has been optioned by HBO with George R.R. Martin producing. We have a lot of her amazing books at our Maroon Library, so check one out today!

Author Spotlight – Leigh Bardugo

Each week we will highlight a different author that your should know from our library collection. This week’s author is Leigh Bardugo.

This author has a lot of best-selling books to her name that all started with The Shadow and Bone Trilogy. The next books, Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom were part of the same world, now known as The Grishaverse and have been really popular here at the Maroon Library. Fans will be happy to know that her Grishaverse books will be coming to Netflix in the near future and the author has TWO new books coming to our library this fall; King of Scars and Ninth House.

Author Spotlight: Neal Shusterman

Each week we will highlight a different author that your should know from our library collection.

This week’s author is Neal Shusterman.

Neal Shusterman is an author, screenwriter and television writer. We have a large collection of his books available at the Maroon Library. Sophomores get a chance to read his book, Unwind during their Dystopia unit in English class. Many of his books have made it on ALA best books and his book, Challenger Deep won the National Book Award. His books are eerily realistic with some dystopia and fantastical elements. Check out one of his books today!

Author Spotlight : Toni Morrison

Each week we will highlight a different author that your should know from our library collection.

This week’s author is Toni Morrison.

Toni Morrison was an author, book editor and professor. Her book, Beloved won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1988. She was the first African-American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature for novels that give “life to an essential aspect of American reality.”  Ms. Morrison passed away August 5th, 2019. We have a collection of her books, here at the Maroon Library. Check one out and learn more about this amazing author.
